Fairy Tale Horse Racing (Puzzles)
(Translate by : Beta).
I still remember this fairy tale, once
told by my teacher when I was at grade fifth Bhinneka II Karawang elementary
school He began to tell:
"In ancient times when there was a
prosperous Kingdom, the people lived in peace and happiness. His king was old,
he wanted to pass on power to his child, but he only had a daughter which was
not justified by the royal system. The one who was entitled to receive the
legacy of power was either his son or son-in-law, therefore the king opened the
contest to seek his future son-in-law
After waiting for a long time, the Prime
Minister announced this contest and there were many people registered join it
even some of them were from abroad. Long story short, there are only 2
candidates of the champion, namely Prince of the neighbour Kingdom and the
Prince of from this Kingdom. They were very good in the science of war, proven
by defeated their opponents easily. And, they had been fighting a war for
2 days and 2 nights without anybody showing defeat (It just a story btw..
hehehe)
Seeing this, the King summoned the Prime
Minister for a meeting to find a solution. Finally, the war was stopped then
replaced by a horse racing in which had extraordinary rules. The rules was that
the last horse finishing the race would be the champion (Hmm .. such a strange
rules ya, considering that usually the Champion is the first one who enters
finish lane. Therefore, it is called a fairy tale).
The next day, those horses was ready to
race. The White-colored horse belongs to the Prince of the Seberang Country,
and the red horse belongs to the Prince of Neighbor's Country. Before the race
began, the King gave the following announcement: "The winner of this race
was the last horse arriving in finish lane. Then He will be directly married to
my daughter and immediately appointed as a King"
The king had already carried the start
flag. By counting the number 3.... 2... 1... the race began and the whole crowd
of cheers echoes along the path of horse racing. But, it turns out that those
two horses didn’t move at all: They were still behind the starting line.
The King got confused and thought that
this racing horse might not finish in 7 days and 7 night so he conducted
another meeting and invited a well-known advisor. This advisor whispered to the
King and then the King was smiled as he already found solution of this
problem.
Then the horse racing started again with
the same rules. The king began counting down ... 3 ... .2 ... .1 ... and
directly those horses darted off very fast ..., like an arrow that was loose
from his bow.
In a short time, the winner was the
Prince of Neighbor Country. Therefore, a wedding party held immediately for 3
days in a row and at the same time the Kinge surrendered his power to his
son-in-law.
Actually the fairy tale has finished but
my teacher asked about what solution given by the advisor to the King. So,
here’s the answer: Advisor said ‘just exchange the horse not the person’
hehehehehehe... That’s the end of the story. . Hopefully this simple tale is
beneficial to all of us. Thank you
